Mineola, New York, December 18, 2017 – Family & Children’s Association (FCA), a leading health and human services nonprofit organization on Long Island, is proud to award David Trone, Owner and Co-Founder, Total Wine & More, as December’s Hero of the Month. FCA’s Hero of the Month award is presented to FCA supporters that go above and beyond to not only raise funds but spread awareness of FCA’s work across Long Island, NY.

Mr. Trone is a firm believer of community giving, with a strong history of supporting education and prison reform. His company is currently the largest retailer of fine wine, beer and spirits in the US with 172 stores in 22 states and $3 billion in annual revenues.

As part of each Total Wine & More grand opening, local nonprofits are chosen to represent the vital work being done in that store’s community. In the lead up to their Westbury, NY grand opening, the company reached out and asked FCA to join as a charity partner, noting their impactful work reaching 25,000 vulnerable families on Long Island every year. As a charity partner, FCA received 10% of proceeds from sales during the grand opening weekend, totaling $32,000.

“FCA’s list of heroes this past year has honored exceptional movers and shakers from several industries dedicated to community giving and David Trone is no different”, said Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, President/CEO, FCA. Dr. Reynolds continued, “FCA is grateful to close the year’s Hero of the Month group strong, honoring Mr. Trone for his exceptional business leadership and understanding of the tremendous impact organizations like FCA make in the communities they serve.”

The award was presented to Mr. Trone on November 8th at the kick-off party for Total Wine & More’s grand opening weekend in Westbury where he spoke to the crowd about the company’s continued expansion and the importance of including organizations like FCA and the Nassau County Museum to each grand opening celebration.
