Giving Tree Rooted in Compassion since 1884
In 1884, a small orphanage called Home for Friendless Children was founded by a group of philanthropists who wholeheartedly sought to protect and strengthen Long Island’s most vulnerable children. Nestled in Mineola, NY, the orphanage is now known as the seed that grew into the robust health and human services organization known as Family & Children’s Association (FCA).
More than 130 years after the orphanage opened, FCA’s ability to better the lives of Long Island families continues to stand the test of time. FCA has weathered some the nation’s most pivotal moments in history while remaining committed to serving Long Islanders. To honor FCA’s roots and further its mission of protecting and strengthening Long Island’s most vulnerable children, seniors, families and communities, the FCA Giving Tree was established in July of 2018 at FCA’s Mineola headquarters, a short distance from where the orphanage stood more than a century ago.
FCA’s Giving Tree offers the opportunity to invest in the growth of healthy communities for generations to come and the ability for FCA to continue branching out across Long Island to meet the needs of those affected most by our area’s most pressing public health and social justice issues.
By investing in FCA’s Giving Tree, you are supporting a brighter future for all of Long Island; a future where Long Islanders living in the region’s most under-served communities have access to high quality care, support, education and meaningful opportunities to get ahead. 100% of your contribution will go directly to FCA and you will forever be etched into Long Island history as a member of the FCA Family who has made a lasting impact on Long Island.
Each leaf on FCA’s Giving Tree displays the supporter’s name or message and are available at the bronze, silver or gold level. Leaves can be custom ordered as a gift in memory of a family member, friend, loved one, foundation or organization.
