Despite difficult situations such as homelessness, foster care and other obstacles, students who receive Family and Children’s Association scholarships remain committed to achievement and have accomplished great feats of academic excellence. Many remain at the top of their class, have earned Dean’s List recognition, and hold leadership positions in student organizations and athletics.
Family and Children’s Association has recognized their potential and provides nearly 100 students annually with college scholarships to help them continue on their path to success. The scholarship program has provided more than $1.3 million in scholarships since 1985, enabling 1,300 deserving students to attend college or technical school. This Scholarship Fund provides stipends to help deserving students, Nassau and Suffolk high school graduates, all clients of Family and Children's Association programs, to attend college or technical school, giving them better chances to find jobs -- and better chances to become happy, productive people, self-sufficient members of their communities.
A special Scholarship Dinner is held each year as the culmination of the outstanding efforts of these talented students and the continued dedication of the Family and Children’s staff and donors, who have “opened the doors of possibility” for these students and turned their lifelong dreams into realities. One of the unique facets of the dinner is the interaction among donors and recipients, who sit together and share in the significance of the evening.
A number of endowed scholarship and sponsored scholarship levels are available to interested donors.
