CEO Corner

It felt like déjà vu as we attended a rally on the steps of the Nassau County building in Mineola protesting the deep cuts the county is proposing for at-risk youth programs and other services. It brought me back to the 60's when we stood up to protest unfair government policy. It's time to stand up and be heard again.

Real progress has been made in the last month thanks to your efforts. This past Friday County Executive Tom Suozzi postponed implementation of the program cuts for 30 days so the impact of the state budget on the County's funding can be determined. We need your voice to convince our elected state representatives that they must find a way to help the young and defenseless. We need your help now more than ever as we struggle to provide services to Long Island families in crisis.

Little ones like Sade, whose single mother died suddenly leaving her alone and homeless.

Teenagers like 19-year old Daniel who aged out of the foster care system and found himself on the streets.

Or, senior citizens like Angela, who is no longer able to care for herself and has no family to assist her. Where are these people to go?

Please help us to help them.

Now is the time to give what you can, you'll be the richer for it. Your action now is critical!

Jim
