Family and Children's
March 2008

In the Spotlight

This year's Family and Children's Mary Anna Meyer Memorial Golf and Tennis Tournament honoree is Sergio A. Sanchez, Executive Vice President, Partners Executive Transportation of Mineola.

Mr. Sanchez, a charismatic and results-driven senior executive, has combined his devotion to his family with his passion for helping others by becoming a champion for Family and Children's.

Mr. Sanchez's goal is to parlay his business experience and professional contacts into major fundraising programs to support ongoing Family and Children's youth-related programs such as the Village of Hempstead Initiative's Promise Project. He believes that these students who are in their "tween" years are at a pivotal stage in their development and that his efforts can have the greatest impact by helping these children have faith in their futures. He's pictured here with his colleague Joe Garcia and some of the teens at their after-school Career Day enrichment program (see picture above).

"I would like to establish a significant scholarship for The Promise Project and possibly a second golf outing to ensure that those children who commit to the requirements of The Promise Project realize the fruit of their labor."

Mr. Sanchez and Partners Executive Transportation's outreach efforts raised more than $15,000 in support of Family and Children's 2007 Adopt-A-Family program. He is hoping to raise even more funds at this year's Golf and Tennis Tournament on May 15th. "Come join us for a great day and a great cause!"

For information or to register for the Golf and Tennis Tournament, please email Marisa Paladino or call her at (516)746-0350 ext 364.

VERIZON RENEWS SUPPORT OF S.A.G.E. PROGRAM
For the third year in a row, Family and Children's S.A.G.E. (Spousal Abuse Group Education) program received a generous grant from The Verizon Foundation. The only program of its kind in Nassau County, Family and Children's S.A.G.E. program assists over 400 individuals annually to help prevent repeated incidences of domestic violence. William D. Martin, Verizon's Director of External Affairs, believes that programs like this one result in tremendous benefits not only to the participants involved, but to the community as a whole.

WASHINGTON MUTUAL's West Hempstead branch has selected FCA as their charity of choice with a donation of $3,500.

FCA SELECTED FOR PINS DIVERSION SERVICES CONTRACT for 2008-2010. Selected by the Nassau County Department of Social Services, FCA will head the Nassau County PINS (Person in Need of Supervision) Diversion Services program, working in partnership with Long Beach Reach and the Hofstra University School of Law.
