Support Groups

Our counselors offer many support groups for people of all ages dealing with a variety of life's challenges. When you feel overwhelmed, just give us a call and make tomorrow a better day.

Family Center & HCBS Parent Support Group*
RSVP required. Contact: (516) 485-5976
Who: For parents of children with an emotional disturbance to come together to socialize, support, and network.
When: Group meets second and fourth Monday of each month 
Time:  6:30- 8:30 pm
Where: 400 Oak Street, Suite 104, Garden City, NY (drive to back and around building to FCA entrance)
Eligibility: Caregivers of children ages 5- 18 who have a primary Mental Health diagnosis and reside in Nassau County.
* Childcare is provided to children between 5 and 18 years of age.

Family Center & HCBS Spectrum Parent Support Group*

Who: For caregivers of children who have both a Mental Health and an autism spectrum diagnosis
When: Group meets first and third Monday of each month
Time:  6:30 – 8:30 pm
Where: 400 Oak Street, Suite 104, Garden City, NY (drive to back and around building to FCA entrance)
Eligibility: Caregivers of children ages 5- 18 who have a primary Mental Health diagnosis and a secondary Autism Spectrum Diagnosis and reside in Nassau County.
* Childcare is provided to children between 5 and 18 years of age.

Hempstead Prevention/Family Support Team

What: 8 session workshop in conjunction with the Nassau County District Attorney's (NCDA) office.
When: Group meets Wednesday nights from 6:00- 7:30 pm
Where: 100 Centre Street, Hempstead, NY
Eligibility: Parents who attend the NCDA Council on Thought and Actions program or our Voc-Ed program.

Hempstead Prevention Services

What: 12-session parenting education support group to educate participants about the negative impact of drug and alcohol abuse and/or addiction on the family.
When: Group meets on Tuesday nights from 6:00 – 7:00 pm or Thursday afternoons from Noon – 1:00 pm
Where: 126 No. Franklin Street, Hempstead, NY
Eligibility: Most participants have or have had addiction to alcohol and/or drugs; many have been referred by Child Protective Services, Department of Social Services or Family Court.
