I have had the pleasure of working for FCA for the last 15 years. I know firsthand that commitment and dedication are needed from all layers of an agency in order for true best practices to occur. FCA not only makes an investment in their clients, but in staff as well. With the flexibility and encouragement of supervisors, many years ago I returned to school to obtain my MSW and continued to grow in the supervisory position that I currently hold. In the Family Ties program we work with families who are vulnerable and often at the lowest points in their lives. Despite the intensity and the emotionally charged day-to-day activities, I feel lucky to be a part of an agency like FCA that not only cares for the clients, but is also committed to helping its staff grow professionally.

I have been a part Family & Children’s Association for the past 15 years. Over this time I have had the opportunity work with a diverse group of professionals from various programs throughout the agency. I have learned a great deal from the caring staff around me and the wonderful clients we serve. Family & Children’s Association has also continually encouraged my development within the field. The agency helped me to acquire my master’s degree and provided me with opportunities for growth. I started out in a per-diem capacity and eventually grew into a supervisory role. I am very thankful to be part of this organization and excited about our future.

Discharge Supervisor – Nassau Haven – Wantagh

PROGRAM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assess each youth referred to Nassau Haven as to their appropriateness for service. Refer inappropriate youth to program(s) that better meet the youth’s need.Provide direct counseling, referrals and advocacy to youth and their families. Develop case plans and insure the timely implementation in accordance with agency and state guidelines.Participate in home visits, intakes and family conferences and respond to crisis’ as neededMeet with assigned clients as needed, to monitor case plan goals.Connect clients to the appropriate services in order to complete case plan.Ensure all residents have a safe discharge plan that is in their best interest.ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Contribute to the daily log any information pertinent to program as well as residents.Provide input in program policy changes and to assist supervisor in reviewing overall program effectiveness.Maintain necessary paperwork on a regular basis.

Employee Benefits Administrator – Human Resources – Mineola

Manage and administer the agency's employee benefits, such as medical, dental, life and other voluntary insurance plans offered, as well as the agency pension plan, flexible spending accounts and tax deferred annuity. This includes but is not limited to conducting monthly enrollment meetings, enrolling and terminating employees from benefit plans, processing changes for billing and payroll purposes, managing the online benefits portal and running reports from the portal as necessary, and performing monthly reconciliations between the information on the portal, the provider invoices and the agency's payroll system to identify and correct any discrepancies. Responsible for the completion of employee separation paperwork/processes including providing employees with pertinent benefits information. Manage and administer unemployment claims, ensuring that information provided is accurate and submitted in a timely manner. Assist with management of employee leaves covered by short-term disability, worker's compensation and the FMLA to ensure that the agency meets all legal requirements, including preparing required paperwork and following up with employees or insurance providers as necessary. Maintain required OSHA log.Participate in the annual renewal process for our health and dental insurance and other employee benefits. Research and recommend new employee benefit programs and participate in the development of an employee wellness program.Ensure that data for critical areas of responsibility are maintained in the online benefits portal and HRIS system, or other data bases, so that reliable reports can be generated and analyzed.Assist the Human Resources Generalist with tasks related to recruitment and onboarding of new employees when necessary and as time allows.

Family Mediator – Nassau Haven – Wantagh

Conduct family and individual mediation counseling sessions.Provide case planning and case management services for clients, connecting them with various resources as needed.Assess youth's appropriateness for the program and provide appropriate referrals if necessary.Implement preventive interventions to avoid neglect, abuse or a runaway situation at home.Work collaboratively with Nassau Haven Case Manager to ensure the appropriate service plan is developed and implemented.Assist youth in returning home when appropriate.Coordinate services and case plans.Responsible for case notes for both programs and the billing of the HCBS Respite Clients as per Medicaid requirements.
