Staff Testimonials

Keisha W, MSW
Family Ties

I have had the pleasure of working for FCA for the last 15 years. I know firsthand that commitment and dedication are needed from all layers of an agency in order for true best practices to occur. FCA not only makes an investment in their clients, but in staff as well. With the flexibility and encouragement of supervisors, many years ago I returned to school to obtain my MSW and continued to grow in the supervisory position that I currently hold. In the Family Ties program we work with families who are vulnerable and often at the lowest points in their lives. Despite the intensity and the emotionally charged day-to-day activities, I feel lucky to be a part of an agency like FCA that not only cares for the clients, but is also committed to helping its staff grow professionally.

I have been a part Family & Children’s Association for the past 15 years. Over this time I have had the opportunity work with a diverse group of professionals from various programs throughout the agency. I have learned a great deal from the caring staff around me and the wonderful clients we serve. Family & Children’s Association has also continually encouraged my development within the field. The agency helped me to acquire my master’s degree and provided me with opportunities for growth. I started out in a per-diem capacity and eventually grew into a supervisory role. I am very thankful to be part of this organization and excited about our future.

Nicole G, LMSW
Home & Community Based Services (HCBS)

Family & Children’s has provided many opportunities for me to grow professionally as well as personally; I have been able to develop my skills as a social worker and I have been able to work with people that I now consider to be life-long friends (including my husband who I met at FCA in 2009). I always feel supported and I know that everyone here is willing to help me if I am unsure of how to handle a difficult situation.

Andrea K, MSW

I have been with Family & Children's Association for the past 9 years. The agency is dedicated to its employees, is supportive and provides a pleasant working environment. I love what I do and the people I work with. The mission of the agency is something that I believe in and the agency truly stands by it. For that, I am grateful to be an employee of Family & Children's Association.

I  work at Walkabout for Young Men and Women as a Supervising Counselor in Freeport, NY. I am delighted to be a member of the FCA team, because of the great work Family & Children's Association is providing to our Long Island youth. One of the reasons I like working for FCA is that it allows me to interact with so many skilled and diverse people. I would say in the non-profit sector, FCA is the organization of choice.
