Children in Foster Care

Some children in foster care grow up without the steadying hand of a caring adult. Others “age out” of their foster homes upon reaching the age of 18, and do not have the necessary life skills to make it on their own. Studies show that life can be very difficult for foster children who may have to deal with homelessness, low educational achievement and poor employment prospects.  At Family & Children's, we embrace these young people and offer them the necessary tools to reach their true potential.

Life Skills

We offer Project Independence, a program designed to teach independent living skills to children in foster care.  We engage these young people in the process of building a strong foundation in life skills, education and community. Our counselors meet one-on-one with the youth and customize a program that offers each child the tools necessary to become a self-sufficient adult.  We also offer a college/trade school Scholarship Fund to help these young people build brighter futures.

Fragile Families

For families with children at risk of foster care placement, we offer Family Ties  and Family Support which help families during periods of crisis pull together to eliminate the risk of placing their children in foster care. When life becomes too difficult to manage, support from programs like ours can help keep families together.
